TheblackhybridRangeRoverexplodedoutofthegatesofTheMansionlikeanenragedbullchargingatamatador.MeiLinhaditguzzlingfuelbecauseitateupmoreroadthatway,sheexplainedtoCaldwell.OnlytheeliteofHongKongcouldaffordtokeephybridsontheroadthesedaysasthetaxonhybridvehicleswasdoublethatofelectricsandbothpetrolanddieselwereseverelyrationedwithpricestomatch.TheyweretryingtohittownbeforelunchtimeasMeiLinreckonedthatwasprobablythebesttimetobreachtheNEXTfacility.Atlunchtimeguardsweredown,awarenesswaslowasstaffconcentratedongettingagoodsquaremealtoseethemthroughtheafternoon.CaldwellandMeiLin,ontheotherhand,wereskippinglunch.

“Theyareclosingin,”hewarned.

“Justwhatwedon’tneed.ItakeitthosearethetwoJapaneseyouencounteredinLondon.”

“Oneandthebloodysame,”Caldwellsaidwithexasperation.
